Strictly Come Dancing fans have become convinced that EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick and partner Michelle Tsiakkas are being given special treatment due to “missing” a crucial dance.
Over the last 10 weeks, the celebrities and their professional partners have been taking it in turns to perform the Couples Choice dance.
However, eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the pair are yet to perform the dance – and may have conveniently passed on it.
Commenting on a forum, one user remarked: “Apparently Jamie has said he doesn’t really care about Couple’s Choice so he might have been given permission to skip it?”
They continued: “It would be unusual, but apparently in 2020 there was a semi-finalist who skipped CC (although there were less dances for each celeb that year anyway and apparently they didn’t expect her to get that far).”
Another added: “Given it’s called Couple’s Choice, I hope the couples also have the choice to skip it should they not want it.
“Although it would mean we would inevitably get a thread about how production is screwing over Jamie by not giving him CC.”
A third concerned fan penned: “Yes, I wondered that as well and it’s a great song. If Jamie does skip Couple’s Choice I think he is going to have to do the Cha-Cha in either the quarter or semi-final which worries me.
“It’s rarely a high-scoring or crowd-pleasing dance, especially at the latter end of the competition.”
Theories around the decision to “pass” on performing the dance comes off the back of their Jive at Blackpool last weekend – where his mum, Sharon, was caught rolling her eyes at a judge Motsi’s comments.
Borthwick arrived on stage riding on a huge bottle of tomato sauce for their lively routine to The Ketchup Song (Aserejé) by Las Ketchup.
Mabuse commented: “Jamie, I’ve never seen anybody wanting to dance so much as you coming down on that thing.
“You were like, ‘Get me off!’ And then I could feel that energy that you held back, you put it into your dancing.
“You push all the way, you gave it absolutely everything. Your standing leg – just a little bit, just a tiny bit.
“It didn’t give you that kind of vibration that you need so that you can absorb the music.
“So you have a sort of absorption on your ankle that we didn’t have.
