Strictly Come Dancing star Chris McCausland has been urged by partner Dianne Buswell not to get carried away with himself as they gear up to perform the American Smooth over the weekend.

This weekend, the Tower Ballroom will welcome the remaining celebrities to put on a spectacular show and showcase their new routines.

McCausland and Buswell joined It Takes Two host Janette Manrara tonight to discuss their excitement for Blackpool and what fans can expect of their performance.

Whilst the comedian was proud of himself for improving his frame and posture, Buswell was quick to bring him back to reality and correct him.

Manrara asked: “Di, you have danced the Foxtrot and danced the Waltz in the show, so which one are you going to lean for in the American Smooth?”

The professional dancer revealed: “We’re going Foxtrot American Smooth. So, yeah, we are really enjoying this and Chris loves his ballroom.

“We’re working again on frame and posture and really getting the beautiful glides and footwork and he’s… I was watching the video back today and I was screaming! I am just so proud of him.”

“My frame has improved, my frame is good!” McCausland jumped in, however, Buswell was quick to disperse his hope and corrected: “Your frame is better.”

Noticing how she didn’t agree with his “good” comment, McCausland joked: “I said it’s good and she went it’s better!”

Manrara noticed the interaction and teased: “She really brought you back Chris! Really brought you back!”

Taking it on the chin, the comedian joked: “Don’t get carried away with yourself big shot!”

For their Couples Choice performance last Saturday, McCausland and Buswell scored 33 out of a possible 40.

McCausland made Strictly history as he became the first blind person to take part in the show – and showcased his disability by blacking out a part of their performance on Saturday night.

After they made it through to Blackpool, the couple took to their Instagram account to share their gratitude with the public who had voted to save them.

They said: “Thank you all so much for the lovely comments support and votes. Something we never thought we would say is we are off to Blackpool.

“Just so proud and so happy thank you partner your the best ! Let’s continue to shine on.”

McCausland took to the comments and added: “Thank you all so much for your votes! Book it and spade is packed and ready to go.”

He previously told ECHO that he and Buswell had a “pipedream” for making it to Blackpool and said: “Me and Dianne have really had this pipedream of being here the week after Blackpool because her mum and dad are coming from Australia and they haven’t seen her dance live for eight years.

“If we can get through these next two weeks then we’ve hit our goal of her being able to have that moment.

“This is nothing without her, she has got the most out of me and I think it will be nice if we’re both able to give something to each other.

“If we can get to that moment then stick a fork in me, I’ll be done. But certainly, I’m hoping to stay in this for as long as possible.”
