Former JLS star Ortiste Williams and wife Kazz Kumar have been overjoyed to welcome their newborn son Shiva, following a series of “devastating” miscarriages for the couple.
The 37-year-old singer and Kazz, who tied the knot two years ago, decided to remain secretive about the pregnancy until just four weeks before Shiva was born.
Williams announced the news in an Instagram post last month with an image of himself and a visibly pregnant Kazz embracing.
“Overwhelmed with emotion, love, and awe, words can’t express how I feel about my Queen, my soulmate, my hero, and stunning Mama Kazz,” he wrote.
“Her strength, her sacrifices, and everything she’s overcome to bring us to this point leave me in absolute wonder.”
The post concluded: “This journey has tested us in ways I can’t describe, but her courage has shown me the true depths of love and resilience.”
Now that Shiva has been born healthy and happy, the couple revealed they had suffered the pain of two tragic miscarriages over the last two years.
After the losses, Kazz explained: “It really affected me physically, mentally and emotionally. I was crippled with anxiety, literally crippled to the point I had to use crutches to move.”
Williams admitted, on top of his own feelings, it was “heartbreaking” to see his wife so hurt and “tried everything possible” to help her.
The 37-year-old shared that many men had reached out to thank him for “being open about my mental health struggles when it came to baby loss” and agreed with Kazz that: “It affects us (partners), too. I don’t think partners are acknowledged when it comes to this topic.”
New mum Kazz admits she was “happy and scared at the same time” on the advent of their third pregnancy, explaining that she remained troubled with anxiety until her twenty-week scan.
It was at that point the pair felt they could share the news publicly, after needing to go through the initial journey “privately and safely”.
Williams has said he is “on cloud nine” after the birth of his son.
“I’m in complete awe of my baby boy, he is truly a blessing and I’m proud of us,” the proud father glowed.
Kazz added: “We are so blessed to have him.”
Shiva is Williams’s second child, sharing his 10-year-old son Omre with a partner from a previous relationship.
The former JLS star and solo artist explained that he is “really looking forward” to when his two children can meet.
